About the Event
The Mass Timber Academy is delighted to announce the first of its 2021/22 programme of design and construction short courses focused on modern solid timber products and building systems.
This short course is open to architects, architectural technologists, structural engineers and current students of these disciplines.
Environmental considerations have led many architects and structural engineers towards non-glued timber systems but knowledge of Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT) is not widespread amongst UK architects and structural engineers.
This online Short Course aims to address this deficiency by providing participants with in-depth understanding of Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT), exploring this technology from its historical beginnings to the modern method of construction (MMC) it represents today. From detailed information and examination of national and international case study buildings, together with interviews with DLT specialists, participants will obtain a comprehensive knowledge of the several commercially-manufactured variants that are currently available and their individual characteristics.
