Think you've got what it takes to be your firm’s Timber Intrapreneur?

What is an Intrapreneur?

Described as the secret weapon of the business world, the term ‘intrapreneur’ emerged in the mid 1980s and defined as “dreamers who do – those who take hands-on responsibility for creating innovation of any kind within a business.” Several subsequent interpretations of the  term have since been distilled into one that identifies intrapreneurs as individuals whose work is considered to be both beneficial to themselves and to their employers. Companies thus support intrapreneurs with access to corporate resources and finance whilst, in return, the intrapreneurs stimulate/facilitate business activity designed to ensure their company stands at the forefront of innovation.

What is a
Timber Intrapreneur?

For a variety of economic, environmental and social reasons, much of our future built environment will be constructed from the solid laminate (mass) timber systems now available, as well as from new developments in this field emerging as a result on ongoing, state-of-the art research. Architecture and engineering firms need to stay abreast of advances in timber technology. In this ever-changing environment, businesses that have in-house specialists in these technologies will come to the fore: Timber Intrapreneurs able to disseminate their knowledge to other staff and to lead their companies towards new business opportunities.
