What is an Intrapreneur?
Described as the secret weapon of the business world, the term ‘intrapreneur’ emerged in the mid 1980s and defined as “dreamers who do – those who take hands-on responsibility for creating innovation of any kind within a business.” Several subsequent interpretations of the term have since been distilled into one that identifies intrapreneurs as individuals whose work is considered to be both beneficial to themselves and to their employers. Companies thus support intrapreneurs with access to corporate resources and finance whilst, in return, the intrapreneurs stimulate/facilitate business activity designed to ensure their company stands at the forefront of innovation.
